Within the framework of the “Egyptian Programme for Promoting Industrial Motor Efficiency” which is implemented by UNIDO and funded by Global Environment Facility (GEF) in close collaboration with the Ministry of Trade and Industry represented by the Industrial Modernization Center (IMC) and the Egyptian National Cleaner Production Center (ENCPC), a webinar aiming to raise awareness about the vitality of energy-efficient motors in the industrial sector and pinpoint potential saving opportunities in industrial motor driven systems while knowing their economic and technical feasibility aspects, was conducted today 8th of September. The webinar was comprised of 70 attendees from the industrial sector. The attendees had the opportunity of knowing the best and most common practices for saving opportunities that fit the Egyptian industrial sector through on ground experiences with more than 200 manufacturing plants. The webinar focused on elaborating how manufacturing industries can identify and utilize saving opportunities to grant them up to 20% savings in the consumption of electricity. The webinar also delivered a descriptive explanation of the Minister of Trade and Industry’s decree # 463/2020 that encourages the Egyptian industrial sector to use energy-efficient motors. This activity has been conducted in line with the Egyptian Government’s vision and direction as H.E President El-Sisi announced yesterday during the press conference held throughout the inspection of Alexandria’s port development, affirming the prohibition of any goods that don’t meet the European and international standards. This statement is considered to be the igniting spark for implementing the ministerial decree # 463/2020.
