The Egyptian Program for Promoting Industrial Motor Efficiency conducts the first “Expert’s level – Pump System Optimization” training session during 5-9 December 2021. A total of 24 individual consultants and energy experts affiliated to diverse manufacturing industries attended the 5-days expert level PSO training session. The training session encompassed both a theoretical and a practical segment which was facilitated and moderated by UNIDO’s international consultants Eng. Siraj Williams and Eng. Albert Williams. The training session focused on using real cases & examples from the field visit at “Ezz Steel’s” plant in El-Dikheila which spanned for 2 days of the round. Ezz Dekheila Steel Co. – Alexandria (EZDK), a subsidiary of Ezz Steel, is the largest steel manufacturing facility in Egypt, with a total capacity of 3.2 million tons of finished steel products per annum, comprising 2.1 million tpa of long products (Rebar and Wire Rod) and 1.1 million tpa of Hot Rolled Coil. It is located in Dekheila, west of Alexandria, Egypt’s second biggest city and its main port. The training used a pragmatic approach to ensure that the trainees have the tools to conduct a comprehensive PSO assessment after observing a demonstration of the site & inspecting it, as well as conducting measurement & analysis procedures of the energy parameters. The training delivered tackled numerous topics including the systems approach, pumps types, pump system energy use, pump system fluid relationship, valve tool and “American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Standards” etc.

The training’s practical segment was made possible due to EZDK’s generous hosting at the leading steel manufacturing facility.
