Within the framework of the “Egyptian Programme for Promoting Industrial Motor Efficiency” which is implemented by UNIDO and funded by Global Environment Facility (GEF) in close collaboration with the Ministry of Trade and Industry represented by the Industrial Modernization Center (IMC) and the Egyptian National Cleaner Production Center (ENCPC), the third meeting for the policy working group was held in the Ministry of Finance on the 30th of November 2021.
The working group was comprised of representatives from relevant stakeholders including decision makers, the banking sector and the private sector working to prepare the legal and regulatory environment through overlooking and guiding the development of the operational policy tools and guidelines for energy-efficient motors early on. The working group members discussed the institutional and legislative framework, assessed the existing market, & proposed policies and measures. This was conducted through specifically presenting a descriptive technical explanation for the ministerial decree # 463 for year 2020 and its summary, presenting a preparatory framework for implementing the ministerial decree, shedding light on the awareness campaign that is being implemented and discussing the coming steps to motivate the local market to expand the use of energy efficient motors.
