On Thursday the 14th of October, the “Egyptian Programme for Promoting Industrial Motor Efficiency” held its second steering committee virtually to create collaborations for a further more coordinated and efficient implementation of promoting industrial motor efficiency solutions in Egypt through the framework of IMEEP project. The steering committee’s attendees comprised of 24 members affiliated to diverse entities including; Global Environment Facility, Ministry of Trade & Industry, Ministry of International Cooperation, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Industrial Modernization Centre, Egyptian National Cleaner Production Center (ENCPC) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization. The committee was chaired by the Ministry of Trade & Industry with the participation of the UNIDO Regional Director as the UNIDO team of experts explained the project’s pillars and its present situation and the progress achieved in activities organized around the project’s four components; (i) Conducive Policy and Legal Environment for EE Motor Systems, (ii) Awareness and Capacity Building on Energy Efficiency in Motors and Motor Driven Systems, (iii) Technical Assistance for Technology Demonstration and Upgrading ,(iv) Support for developing the ESCO market, with a specific focus on EMDS optimization and motor upgrades.
